Thank you to everyone who purchased Every Day Filled with Hope last week. I don’t want to write anything that will be a spoiler, so I’ll be careful about what I say. The novel starts in Weldon, KY, and I take the reader all the way to Niger, Africa, and then back to Weldon. One of the characters I love in the book is Wasilla. The first time I visited Niger, we visited a remote village, and a sweet lady I met there is the inspiration for this character. She gave me the African name of Wasilla because Shelia is difficult for Africans to pronounce. I was told it is a very old African name and it means servant, or perhaps it’s a prevalent name for servants. Another team member was given the name Nadia, which translates into princess. Today, I’m honored to be called Wasilla, because, more than anything, I want to be a servant for the Lord. Sadly, all those years ago, my lip poked out a bit that my name was Servant and my team member was given the name Princess. Is it any wonder God sent me to Africa seven times? He had a lot of work to do to mold me into something useful, and there is still much refining to be done. At least I understand today that it is an honor and privilege to be called Servant.
In this picture, you’ll see a scene that I described in the book, Wasilla, Miriama, and Helima working together to pound millet. Women are always working and usually, have a baby strapped to their back. I love how they work together and there is always laughter.
Again, thank you to everyone who purchased Every Day Filled with Hope. For the first three days, Every Day Filled with Hope made Amazon’s top 100 book sales in three categories, Southern Fiction, Single Women Fiction, and Contemporary Christian Romance. Once you’ve finished reading the book, I hope you’ll leave an Amazon review. All reviews help sell books. It can be confusing to figure out how to write an Amazon review, so here’s a link to a Youtube video showing you how. You’ll have to watch a brief ad but you can skip it after a few seconds.

I’ll be at the Green County Public Library in Greensburg, KY on Saturday, April 9, 2022 at 10:00 am discussing my first novel, Every Window Filled with Light. If you live in the area, I hope you will stop by. Also, the e-book version of Every Window Filled with Light is still on sale through April 7, 2022.
You are all a blessing to me. I felt your prayers last week. Please let me know how I can pray for you.
Have a blessed week.
Shelia
I enjoyed your story about the name given you in Africa. When my daughter was about 9 or 10, she watched the Olympic gymnastics and admired Nadia. Thereafter she wanted to be called Nadia, but she didn’t know that the name means princess. I’ll have to tell her that.
Hi Suzanne,
I’m glad I’m not the only one who wanted to be called Princess.
Thank you, for stopping by.
