Hi Reader Friends,
It’s been a while since I shared information about my personal life. I’ve been busy as a bee in a field of clover visiting book clubs, libraries, and church groups, while keeping up with my regular duties as a library director. Also, painters recently updated every room in my home except my husband’s man cave. I discovered that I can’t focus on writing if my house isn’t in order. Thankfully, everything is settling down, and the third Weldon novel is taking shape. I know many of you are anxious to see what’s next for Luke and Emma, as am I. When I’m writing, and it’s going well, it’s almost as if someone is telling me the story, and I’m often surprised by the twists and turns. The third Weldon novel has a couple of surprising twists.
Something I hadn’t anticipated when I pursued writing was the doors God would open for speaking engagements. Next week, I’ll speak at P.E.O., a philanthropic and educational organization promoting women’s higher education. What an honor. Check out the Kentucky P.E.O. Chapter’s website to learn more about this group. https://www.peokentucky.org/
Please don’t hesitate to ask if you would like me to speak for a women’s group that meets in Kentucky or Tennessee. Topics I love to discuss are the power and importance of forgiveness and how God can take a tragedy and turn it into His good. Both themes are incorporated in my Weldon novels. I also enjoy sharing about my adventures on the African mission field. I am the worst missionary ever, and I am amazed at how God allows me to be a part of His plan.
Next week, I’ll attend the Kentucky Book Festival in Lexington, KY. I’m excited to spend time with author friends and Weldon fans. To learn about the schedule of events, click on this link. https://kybookfestival.org/. If you attend the festival, please stop by my table so I can give you a hug.
Last week, I had the opportunity to attend the Allen County Historical Society’s Graveline Tour. We toured Scottsville’s old City Cemetery by lamplight. Historical Society members were dressed in period costumes and portrayed some of the people buried in the cemetery. I’ve always been a fan of history, and the Graveline tour is a fun way to learn about the lives of people from Scottsville, Ky. During the tour, I met Johnny Green, a pioneer in aviation, and Sallie Edmunds. She started the first library in Scottsville, KY, in 1918. Every year, when I attend the Graveline Tour, I’m reminded we are all making history, and I wonder what people will remember about me. I hope they will say she was kind to all and loved telling people about Jesus. But that’s not always easy in the world we live in today. What do you hope people will remember about you?
If you’ve not had the chance to read my Weldon novels, just click on the cover and it will link to Amazon. For those who have read the books, please consider leaving an Amazon review. All reviews help authors.
