.

A cardinal pecked on my dining room window for days, and it became so distracting, my husband placed an owl decoy in front of the house with the hopes of scaring the bird away. The silly creature is now assaulting his image on the French doors on the other side of my home.

As I watch and listen to his relentless attacks on himself, I realize, I’ve done the same thing. When I reflect on my sinful past, a heaviness settles over me. I know I’m unworthy of God’s blessings. That’s why it’s so important to keep my eyes on Jesus instead of myself. When we accept Christ as our savior, we are to live for him instead of ourselves. For me, it’s a daily battle. When I look in the mirror, I see my own worst enemy, but God see’s a daughter who’s sins have been wiped away by the precious blood of His Son, Jesus.

As we approach Good Friday, it’s the perfect time to reflect on Jesus. He left his heavenly throne and lived as a man (God in flesh), so that he might save us from ourselves. God loves us so much he sent his son, Jesus, to suffer and die on the cross to rescue us.  Such love, compassion, and grace is impossible for me to comprehend.

If I keep my eyes on Jesus, instead of the reflection in the mirror, there is no reason to mourn my past mistakes. If I yield to his holy spirit which lives in me, I can experience love, joy, peace, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control, regardless of my circumstances. My sins have been wiped away by the blood of Jesus. The battle is over and Jesus has claimed victory

What about you? Do you have a savior? If not, I pray you will learn the true meaning behind Good Friday. It was a day when man was at his very worst, but Jesus turned mankind’s evil deeds to good for you and for me.

But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. 1 Corinthians 15:57 ESV.
